ABSTRACT
In this study, the effect of supplementing
rice straw substrate with palm kernel chaff on the yield of the mushroom
Pleurotus Ostreatus florida has been investigated. The greatest weight and
number of fruit bodies were obtained from 15% supplementation. Supplemented
substrate, that is 0% supplementation, which forms the control, gave the next
greatest yield in tennis of weight. But in terms of number of fruit bodies, 10%
supplementation was the second in yield. The supplemented substrate produced
better mushrooms. The implications of these results are discussed in relation
to earlier works in 4 this regard.
