ABSTRACT

The effect of oral administration of methanol extract of Anacadivin occidental leaves on Liver glycogen and glucose-6- phosphatese activities in normoglycemic rat was investigated. Eleven rats aged 7-10 weeks old were used in the study and they were assigned into three groups of' Ibur animals each in group A and B and three animals in group C. high dose Anacadivin occidental (400mg/kg body weight), low dose 0. occidental (200mg/kg body weight) and normal control respectively. The study was carried out for 14 days to examine the Liver glycogen and glucose - 6-phosphatese effect of the leaves. Liver glycogen activity was measured after two weeks at 1:5 and glycose-6-phosphatase activity was measured at 820nM. There was no significant (P < 0.05) change in the Liver glycogen and glucose-6-phospbatase activity between the 400mg/kg. 200mg/kg Anacadivni occidental and the control. There was no significant difference in weight of the animals. The results indicates that oral administration of Anaccidivm occidental had no significant effect on Liver glycogen and glucose-6-phosphatase in Normo glycemic rats.
