ABSTRACT


The quality of a product is indicative of the level of satisfaction derived by the consumer of the

product as well as the quantity demanded of the product. The higher the demand, the higher the

quantity of a product sold and the higher the profit made by a company. Thus, maintaining or

controlling the quality of a product is an issue of major concern to the company. This study was

primarily carried out to check if the quality characteristics of Gulder Lager Beer are under statistical

control. The control chart for mean (x-chart) and control chart for standard deviation (s-chart)

were constructed for the quality characteristics (alcohol percentage by volume, temperature, head-

space air, pressure). It was observed that alcohol percentage by volume was not in a state of quality

control. Hence revised control limits were constructed based on the derived limits.
