Statistical Analysis Of Treated Cases Of Malaria In The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia From 1995-2000

ABSTRACT

In this work, it was found that the total number of females treated for the six year period is greater than the number of males treated by 1.20 percent. - the age group 0.0-14.0 years has the highest incidence of malaria attack. The probability of attack of malaria for the months of the year are not equally likely. It was also discovered that malaria cases treated for several years duration exhibit evidence of trend hence, the attack was established not to be random. Such data show seasonal and cyclical patterns. In this research, there are three remarkable seasonal peaks, that is, in the months of June, July and august, and drops in the months of December and January. The irregular component was estimated and found to the normally distributed with mean =0 and variance 0,
