ABSTRACT

The objective of this work is to statistically analyze the factors affecting academic performance on gender; a case study of 18 secondary schools in Umuahia. The research work was carried out by the use of survey method via questionnaire design. It was checked if academic performance are been affected by peer group, teachers relationship and parental motivation. The data used for this analysis is a primary data of 18 secondary schools in Umuahia metropolis and was analyzed using a chi-square test with the aid of statistical software. It was found that academic < performance depends on peer group, teacher's relationship and parental motivation. So It is recommend that parents, teachers and students, should endeavor to play a vital role to better the level of academic performance in our society.
