ABSTRACT

This study evaluated tire quality of two different brands of bottled water produced in Uzuakoli, Bendc Local Government Area, Abia state. Two brands of water sample. ected aseptically from the above mentioned source were analyzed based oil'sensory. evaluated, results showed that all the samples recorded a colour value of 0.00 which is within a permissible limit of 3.0 true colour unit value of NIS 977-2017. The odour and taste of all samples were recorded unobjectionable. The temperature for the control, BW1 and BW2 ranged from 27.20 °C to 27.7 °C. The turbidity value for all the samples were 0.00±0.00 NTU. The pH values recorded 6.67, 6.28 and 6.54 for the control, BW1 and BW2 respectively while the conductivity values for the samples were 225.00pS/cm for BW1 and 482.00uS/cm for BW2. The chemical parameters results showed that all the samples tested were within the National Industrial Standard Permissible limit set by NIS 977-2017. The toxic chemical composition evaluated showed that only Control met the maximum permissible level of 0.01 mg/L. The microbial results showed that the total bacteria count fall within the acceptable range although E.coli was detected in BW2 which is an indication of poor water which in turn possess significant health risks including gastrointestinal illness
