ABSTRACT

The chemical composition of miracle fruit (synsepalum dulcificum) was investigated. The fruit consists of protein (3.05%), fat (1.08%), crude fibre (0.42%), ash (4.94%), and moisture content (74.44%). It also contains some vitamins, minerals and sugar. The phytochemical screening showed that it contains some antinutritional compounds such as alkaloids, phenols and tannins. While the infra red analysis dictated the presence of hydroxyl group, carbonyl group, amide group and aromatic group.
