ABSTRACT

The Hydrolytic Activity of Endogenous B-Glucosidsc Of Tevea Brasiliensis Towards The Cyanogenic Glycosides Of Rubber Seeds Was Investigated, Followed Dy The Study Of The Partial Purification And Some Kinetic Properties Of The Enzyme. Crushing Of The Rubber Seeds And Allowing The Interaction Of The Endogcnous B -Glucosidase And The Cyanogenic Glycosides Content Of The Seeds For A Period Of About 60 Mili Resulted In About 90 95% Hydrolysis Of The Evanogenic Glycosides By The Endogenous Enzyme. ((Ni-I4)2 So4precipitation Of Lire Enzyme Followed By Dialysis Gave A Artiahly Purified Enzyme Of' Activity 6.5 Units/Mi And Specific Activity Of 6.L9units/Mg Protein. The Total Protein Measured From The Solution Of The Crude And Partially Purified Enzyme Was 8.35mg/Mi Arid 1.05mg/Mi. Mathematical Treatment Of The Data From The Degradation Of' Linamarin By The Partially Purified Enzyme Generated Cn- Values That Were Used To Construct A Lineweaver- Burk Plot Which Gave Km And Vmax Values Of 38.46mm And 6.9x10 Pmolcn7min/Ml Enzyme.
