Multivariate Analysis On Students' Academic Performance Using Selected Courses: A Case Study Of Mathematics And Statistics Departments Mouau.

ABSTRACT

This study was designed to examine the academic performance of students from Mathematics and Statistics department of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike MOUAU, using selected courses. Paper ballot method was used to select the courses offered by the two departments, and the table of random digits (numbers) were used to select forty Students; eighty two Students from each department for the study. The data collected were subjected to statistical analysis using Hoteling's T-square test statistic. The hypotheses formulated were tested at 5 percent level of significance. The result showed that significant difference exist between the academic performance of Students from Mathematics and Statistics departments. The Roy-Bose simultaneous confidence interval applied indicated that alternative hypothesis to the null hypothesis was evident in Principles of Economics (AEC111). On the basis of this, it is recommended that Students of Mathematics department should be encouraged to work hard in order to improve their performance in Principles of Economics (AEC111).
