ABSTRACT This work is aimed at investigating the In-vitro antioxidant activity of chloroform fraction of Acalypha wilkesiana. The hydro alcohol extract of antioxidant activity contained in Acalypha wilkesiana was evaluated using the spectrophotometric method. The results indicate increased antioxidant activity as the dose increased, and was comparable to standard Vitamin C used. The scavenging activity of the sample on DPPH showed that Vitamin C was found to be 76.77 ± 27.27% and that of Chloroform was 60.32 ± 24.07%. for reducing power ofthe sample, the total mean value was 58.25 ± 15.63% for Quercetin and 42.63 ± 16.27% for chloroform. The total phenol was found to be 18.02 ± 0.02% and total flavonoid was 4.27 ± 0.02%. The extract ofthe leaves ofAcalypha wilkesiana could offer protection against oxidative damage.
