ABSTRACT

Evaluation of antibacterial activity of medicated soaps on Staphylococcus aureus, E.coli and Salmonella typhi was carried out using different concentrations of medicated soaps (IOOmg/ml, 200mg/ml, 300mg/ml, and 400mg/ml). The disc dillusion method was used lo obtain the zone of inhibition at different concentration of the soap on the test organisms. The highest ' zone of inhibition obtained was crusader with the zone of inhibition 21111111 on Staphylococcus aureus. This result shows that medicated soaps exhibits antibacterial activities against 3 ~ Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Sa/111011el/a typhi. Therefore, medicated soaps are ; i recommended for washing hands, bathing and cleaning to reduce microbial contamination.
