ABSTRACT x The study carried out to check the effect of ethyl acatate root extract of Sphenocentrum jollyanum serum liver enzymes of alloxan induced albino rats. A total of twenty wistar albino rats weighing was grouped into 5 groups of 4 rats weighing (90-150g) was grouped into 5 groups of 3 rats each per group. Group 1 is normal control (not diabetic and treated with vital feed and water) group 2 is positive control (diabetics) induced and treated with standard drug), group 3 is negative control (diabetes induced and not treated), group 4 is low dose (diabetes induced and treated out 200mg/kg/bow) group 5 is high dose (diabetes induced and treated 200mg/kg/b.w). All the groups were diabetes induced by singll p induction of and their blood glucose levels were seen to be above 200mg oral administration ofthe extracts and standard drug took place for 14 days. The rats in all the groups were sacrifice following approval from department ethical committee on the care and use of experimental animals for research and their blood sample were collected in centrifuge tube for serum liver enzymes estimation and blood glucose concentration there was a reduction in the blood sugar level in the group that received the extract compare to untreated ones. There was a significant increase in blood and serum liver enzyme level in aloxan induced diabetic rats without treatment compare to treated group those that were treated with Sphenocentrum jollyanum root extract showed significant decrease in serum liver enzymes and blood glucose level, compare to untreated groups. These showed that ethyl acetate root extract of Sphenocentrumjollyanum has an antihyperglyperlylaemic property
