ABSTRACT Malaria has been and is still the cause of human morbidity and mortality, this disease is caused protozoan parasite ofthe genus Plasmodiumfalciparum, usually people get malaria by being bitten by an infectious female anopheles mosquito.Serum aspartate aminotransferase (ASP), Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Alkaline phospatate ( ALP) , Total bilirubin, conjugated bilirubin, Total protein (TP), Albumin and Globulin (GLB) activities were assayed using 10 blood samples with falciparium malaria infection and in 2 control groups without malaria infection that were collected and processed under standard laboratory procedures.Using leishman-stained thin method the values of AST, ALT, ALP, TP, ALB, GLB, Total bilirubin and Conjugated bilirubin were 22.60±3.20, 18.70±3.34, 104.20±6.89, 6.76±0.43, 3.20±0.35, 3.13±0.46, 1.36±0.41, 0.64±0.26 for the falciparium malaria patients and 11.50±12.02, 28.50±4.95, 7.30±2.12, 3.25±1.06, 4.05±1.06, 0.55±0.63, 0.15±0.21 for non-infected (control) patient. The increase in the values except in total bilirubin and conjugated bilirubin were significant (p<0.05) when compared with the values for the non-infected subjects. Evidence from this data indicates a measure ofliver dysfunction in malaria infected subjects
