ABSTRACT

This project is designed to improve the operators of a computer services flrrn that handles large volumes of information on customers, contracts, computer hardware and sothvarc. A database system is developed based on the data collected from the Modern Business Machines (MBM) Nigeria Limited, Port Harcourt, which is taken as a case study. The system is implemented using Visual Basic 6.0 as front-end and Microsoft Acces a back-end. This project examines the manual system of transaction, create an awareness of what service information system is all about, the problems encountered and ways to avoid them. These caii be achieved through a database designed to provide facilities to access and control huge amount of information hence satisfy customers and also optimize profit. With any computer service firm, the project is of general types and will be uefu fr processing information such as customer information, machine database, credit check, inventory monitoring and invoice procedures. While the new DBMS benefits include: • Providing existing information but more rapidly • Providing more up-to-date (fresh) information • Providing accurate information o Control and security of data stored is significantly increased • improved services • Cost reduction • improved company image
