Design And Implementation Of A Career Counselling System (For Undergraduate Students Of Chemistry)

ABSTRACT

 In this research work, the expertise of a career counselor is capturad and transferred to a computer to solve career decision problems for undergraduate students in the narrow but broad field of Chemistry. This expert system, called t ChemGuide, counsels the student by administering career tests based on, first, interest and then subsequently, aptitude. The expert system directs the student towards a career of best fit based on the results of the interest tests because it is a fact that you do well only in a job you like. The method of research includes the use of questionnaires to gather information about students' preference and interviewing the counselor. ChemGuide was designed and implemented using flowcharts and Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 programming language. Extensive use of Microsoft Access 2000 was also involved in the development of the project. The undergraduate students will greatly benefit from this development, as it will serve as a ready guide to the career path they will like to take up after graduation.
