ABSTRACT

This study is aimed at carrying out analysis for the data collected on an experiment on the effect of location, age and genotype on the egg-shell thickness of the cross-breeds of local and Goidlink chicken. The effects of these three factors was il1vestigated based on the models of the two forms of a multiple Latin Square design The experiment was conducted at the Abia State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) Umauhia. The result of the analysis confirmed that location in Umuahia has no significant effect, while, age and genotype has significant effect on the shell thickness of these particular chicken. Based on the findings of this work poultry farmers are advised to take note of the age and genotype which gives maximum egg-shell thickness for optimum productivity and • profit when raising the local chicken, Goodlink chicken and their crosses.
