ABSTRACT v Nowadays, across Africa and of course, across the world, computerized hospital management information system is an important component of the society. This project focuses on the design and development of a Computerized Hospital Management Information System (CHMIS) aimed at revolutionizing the operational efficiency within healthcare facilities. Manual and fragmented systems often lead to significant challenges, including data inconsistencies, delayed information retrieval, increased administrative burden, and potential for human error, all ofwhich can negatively impact patient outcomes and resource utilization. Our primary objective is to address these critical issues. The CHMIS is designed to streamline various hospital functions, encompassing patient registration, appointment scheduling, electronic health records (EHR) management, billing, inventory control for pharmaceuticals and supplies, and laboratory results tracking. By centralizing data and automating routine processes, the system seeks to minimize administrative overhead, improve data accuracy, and ensure real-time access to vital patient information for healthcare professionals. Anticipated outcomes include a significant reduction in operational costs, enhanced inter-departmental communication, improved decision-making capabilities for hospital management, and ultimately, a more efficient and safer environment for both patients and staff. This CHMIS represents a crucial step towards modernizing healthcare delivery, fostering a seamless flow of information, and elevating the overall standard ofpatient care.
