Comparative study of brands of Paracetamol In Nigerian Market.

ABSTRACT 

The comparative study of several brands of paracetamol in Nigerian market was carried out. Tablets, c plet and capsule paracetamol were used for study. The parameters considered in these tests were thickness, diameter, weight, Hardness, assay, assay uniformity, disintegration and dissolution tests. The results of the analyses show that some paracetamol sold in Nigerian market do not comply with the universal standard specification of this drug. M&B, Juhel and fatina tablets failed weight uniformity test, Jawa caplet, panadol tablet and paracure capsule failed the assay test for strength determination. Paracure capsule failed the dissolution test while M&B tablet Jawa caplet, and paracure capsule and Nichben tablet failed disintegration time test Cetamol P, Emzor, Saridon P, and Doctor Joe.
