Clothing Design Preferences Of Female Workers: A Case Study Of Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture Umudike

ABSTRACT
This study examined the clothing design preferences of female workers at Michael Okpara University of agriculture Umudike. The clothing articles selected by female workers were examined. Factors that influence the clothing selection of the female workers were determined. The problems associated with their clothing design preferences were also identified. Validated pilot tested structured questionnaire were administered to the female workers by systematic sampling method. Two hundred and fourteen (214) fully completed questionnaires were collected from the subjects. Frequencies, simple percentage and mean score were used in analyzing the data. Results from the data revealed that the major factor affecting the clothing selection or preferences of the female workers are the durability of the garment and body comfort, as indicated 'by the respondents who had a mean score of 4.15 in each case. Result from the study also indicated that non of the female academic staff uses casual attires for work rather they prefer either corporate or traditional attires. Data also revealed that corporate, casual and traditional attires are selected for work by some female non-academic staff.
