ABSTRACT

Modified phylolherapeutic survey was adopted for the present research work. Icacina trichantha Oliv was selected on the basis of the claims of the indigenous medical practitioners that suggest (its use against tuberculosis). The root was extracted, macerated and chromatographed to ensure purity. Fractions were subjected to severe screening. The residue FEOI macerated and concentrated to obtain, petroleum ether fractions obtained were subjected to bio-assay techniques, antimicrobial screening assay (AMA) using agar diffusion method and enzyme assay technique (EAT). Microbial inhibitions in comparison with ciprofloxacin was carried out. Appreciable Chemical inhibitory effect was also registered at all concentrations used. The art tool of l3C nmr techniques spanning IH, l3C, 1H/IH COSY, II I/I3C COSY, DEPT 45, 90 and 135 as well as FAB - mass; Data basing from A.C.DI elucidator, further supported the proposed structure.
