ABSTRACT

The study entitled "the attitude of married couples towards family planning" was conducted to access the attitude of married couples towards family planning in Okpofe Community in Ezinihitte Mbaise L.G.A. in imo State. Sample for the study comprised 200 married couples drawn from the community through simple random sampling technique. The tools for the data collection include questionnaire and a rating scale. The influence of education on the attitude under consideration was also evaluated. It was seen that the use of condom was (38%), safe period (19%), pills (16%), withdrawal (14%), copper-T (5%), natural contraceptives (4%) and intra-vaginal loop (4%). The study revealed that the couple's adoption of the family planning method were statistically insignificant. Education equally has an effect on family planning associated with the respective attitude of respondents towards family planning. Appropriate recommendations were also made.
