ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to determine the prevalence ofvitamin bl2 deficiency among pregnant women attending antenatal care in semi-urban and rural area of Ikwuano L.G.A.36 blood samples were collected from the pregnant women, 20 which were from the semi-urban and 16 which was from the rural health centre. Data that was collected from the laboratory analysis were analyzed statistically. Data are expressed as mean ± SEM, ANOVA was also carried out. The result showed insignificant (p>0.05) differences for all comparison between and within groups. The mean serum vitamin bl2 comparison of semi-urban 15-23 years(245.00±99.80), 24-31 years(179.43±44.27), 32-40 years (233.40±67.63) and for rural 15-23 years (136.75±55.22), 24-31 years (124.33±46.93) and 32- 40years (172.33±59.62).
