A Statistical Analysis Of The Effect Of Fertilizer And Tropical Weather On The Yield Of Cassava

ABSTRACT

The main objective of this study is to obtain a measure of the overall degree of relationship between the yield of cassava on one hand and fertilizer, rainfall, relative humility and temperature taken together on the hand; and also to construct a model, which can be used to predict values of yields of cassava. The data used is a secondarily data, which was, collected from the National Roots Crops Research Institute, Umudike in Abia Stale. The data were collected for a period of twenty years from 1983 to 2002. The matrix approach to multiple regression was used to analyze the data and a model. This model could be used to predict the yield of cassava based on the quantity of fertilizer applied and the tropical weather of the area. The model reveals that the combinations of fertilizer, rainfall, mean relative humidity and temperature have effect on the yield of cassava.
