ABSTRACT

The data used for this project work was collected from National Root Crop Research Institute (NIRCRI) Umudike at ginger unit and at metrological Unit for the weather parameterS from the year 2001 — 2010. The objectives of this project work was to construct a model which can be used to predict the values of yield of ginger given the values of the weather parameters, secondly, to measure the extent at which change in one or more variable jointly affect change in another, thirdly, to determine whether there is significant relationship between the dependent variable and a set of all independent variable, lastly to test for the existence of multicollinearityin a multiple regression model. In testing the significance of the model, it was established at 5% level of significance that there exist a functional relationship between the yield of ginger and weather parameters. I equally test the multicollinearity for the explanatory variable which was revealed that the variables were not perfectly correlated linearly. It was also discovered that rainfall if not considered may not really affect the high yield of ginger but temperature, Relative humidity and sunshine if not considered will affect the high yield of ginger.
