A Library Database System with Smart Card Access Method:- Ejiogu, Uzoma P

ABSTRACT System ofbook search in Nigeria Libraries has been manual. This study is a computerized system ofbook search. It makes use ofsmartcard and pin code as a means ofgranting access to users. The system is made up oftwo major parts which include: the hardware section and the software section. The hardware section comprisesthe slot pin or card reader, a circuit board, and ajumper wire. The software section makes use ofVisual Basic 6.0 programming language which is used in controlling the system. This system also makes use ofMicrosoft: Access in database creation. The system has all the information about each book in the library. It gives the user the opportunity to type in the name and author of any book which the user wants to get from the library. The system searches the library book database and displays all the relevant information for the user. In a situation whereby the name and author does not exist in the database then the system displays “No Record” found on the screen. After the successfully completion of the system design, coding and implementation a result was carried out in order to make some comparison among the various gathered data.
