A Demographic Information System For Census Data Processing A Case Study Of Umuahia North Local Government Of Abia State.

ABSTRACT

This project research "Demographic Information System" lays emphasis on the inputting and processing of census data. It also aids computer Science students and students of other disciplines for further study and research on this topic for timely dissemination of information. After examine the existing system, it was dimmed necessary to develop this software using top-down design approach that is an aspect of modular design. This was made possible due to its easiness to understanding, since it is written methodologically and with purpose. Moreover, its finished product is comprehensive. Also, questionnaires and interviews were used in collecting the data. The application packages used were Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 and Microsoft Excel. This is due to its effectiveness, user friendliness and simplicity in solving problems of limited research project. This information provided and processed using this software provides data for planning programmes in education, health, housing and other social services at all levels of governance. It also helps business/private sector to plan their activities.
