A Computerised Auditing System For Financial Institution

ABSTRACT

Auditing is an activity or exercise that implies an in-depth examination of a set of financial statements, so as to form an objective opinion which is expressed in the form of an audit report of financial statement about the transaction of a business organization. Prior to the introduction of Computers, it was difficult and cumbersome to accelerate auditing processing. Files and documents containing information about the business or organization been audited increased in number and also it was hard to keep them as they occupy space. Auditors suffered tremendously a because of this. Due to how tiring manual auditing can be, the level of human error, transpositions and omissions is on a high side. Also, the time of processing is relatively slow. In order to enhance acceptance, the internationally accepted software engineering model which is the Object Oriented Analysis and Design Model (OOADM) was used to develop the new system. Programming languages Visual Basic and Structured Query Language were used in the course of this project. Microsoft Access software alongside the Structured Query Language was used to handle the database development of the new system. This project work provided a stand-alone windows-based software or system which enhances auditing process making it faster, reliable, efficient and more secured. Thus achieving the aim of the project.
