ABSTRACT

This project centers on detection of unauthorized access to residential and commercial buildings which is basically a security/alarm system employing multi-sensor technologies capable of detecting intrusion in four different ways. The system is divided into six units; the power supply unit which employs a Svdc battery to ensure constant supply of power to the circuit, the sensing unit made up of four sensors namely, light sensor where light rays from the a torch falling on a light dependent resistor activates the system, touch sensor which employs a touchpad that arms the system on physical contact, proximity sensor which also employs a touchpad but with increased sensitivity and activates the system on close proximity to the pad and a sound sensor which senses sound in the audio frequency range thereby activating the system. Signals from the sensing units are sent to the latching unit which subsequently sets the input of the processing unit to "O" or "1" depending on its output state. The processing unit then processes the signals through a programmed high level language and outputs the information for visual display and audio signaling by the display unit and alarm unit respectively.
