ABSTRACT
The design
and construction of a 1.5KVA inverter using PWM scheme incorporating solar
panel, deep cycle battery and charge controller was successfully implemented.
The SG3524 chip is a fixed frequency pulse - width- modulator (PWM) voltage
provides signal oscillations necessary for the inverter from DC to AC and it
controls all activities of the entire system. The designed oscillation period
was 0.02see and the duty cycle was 50%. The MOSFETS were operated in forward
and reverse manner signifying as whether the battery was supplying the load or
was charging from the PV module respectively. The test result conducted showed
that the inverter was able to carry a load of 1200watts with an output voltage
of 220V AC, 10.8A and the battery DC voltage of 12V. Therefore, assuming a
power factor of 0.9 and using a battery of 100AH, 1.5KVA inverter was designed
and constructed.
