Maximizing Profit In Multi-Products Company Using Linear Programming Approach (A Case Study Of Pz Cussons Plc, Aba Branch)
ABSTRACT
The main objective of
this work is to examine the ways multi-product companies maximize their profit,
a case study of PZ CUSSONS PLC, Aba branch. Six samples soap produced by the
company and common in the market which includes Joy, Imperial, Canpon, Premier,
Zip and Dove were selected. The time required for each of the samples to be
produced by nine machines was taken per week in minutes. Also, profit made from
each of the products was collected, Then simplex method of linear programming
was applied in the analysis. At the end of the analysis, Joy and Canon were
observed to be the optimal products which the company should produce at a
specific range in other to maximize profit. The optimal products for profit
maximization to be achieved were determined as follows: 10,000 units of Joy and
11,000 units of Canon soap. The products give a profit of N733,000.00 per week;
N2,934,000.00 and N35, 184000.00 per year, if all conditions remain the same.
Thus we can adopt the use of simplex method for profit maximization as has been
properly demonstrated in this work.
