ABSTRACT
This study is on distribution intrusion
detection system. The intrusion detection system (IDS) is an expert system that
has the power of restricting 'access to an unauthorized user. In this study the
software is an information based system in which you can send and receive mail
from registered users. The data was collected by personal interview, related
literature and from I internet. The information security guard emphasized
cryptography which secured the information from intruders using pass wording,
encrypting and data hiding. In this study the design was to ensure detection,
against in a computer network. Using top down design methodology, a database
was created in Microsoft ficcess environment. The various input forms were then
designed and dynamic software developed using Visual Basic 6.0 version. The
database created was interfaced with the developed software to produce a
distributed Intrusion Detection System. This Software system was tested,
documented and con firmed working.
