Cooperative And Agricultural Financing In Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture, Umudike. Ikwuano Local Government Area Of Abja State
ABSTRACT
This study is an analysis of cooperatives and Agricultural financing in Ikwuano Local Government area of Abia State. A list of cooperative societies in the local Government Area was obtained from the cooperatives office in the Local Government Area. The list formed the sampling frame. From the list a random sample of 15 cooperatives societies were taken. Four respondents were interviewed from each society brining the sampling size of respondents to 60. Data were analysed using simple description statistics and regression analysis. The linear function, Exponential function, Double log (Cobb-Douglas) function and semi log functions were tried. The linear function was chosen as the lead equation. The linear model shows that the included independent variables account for about 85% of the variation in the capital reserve of cooperatives. Internally generated funds and value of co-operative assets were found to be statistically significant factors affecting capital reserves of co-operatives. Membership size increases, capital reserve of cooperative societies will decrease. Internally generated fund increased, the capital reserve of the cooperative societies will increase. If the value of cooperative assets in N is increased, the capital reserve of cooperative societies will increase.
