ABSTRACT

The research is a descriptive survey research design on Attitude ofCollege Students towards Utilization ofLibrary Resources. The major purpose was to investigate the attitude ofcollege students towards effective utilization oflibrary resources in college ofeducation ikwo ebonyi state, Nigeria. It was guided by five purposes andfive research questions. The study has a population of 103 which was totally enumerated for the study: A single data collection instrument was questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical method including frequency counts, simple percentage and mean score. Data analysis revealed the attitude ofstudents towards the utilization oflibrary resources that the level ofsatisfaction by students with the available resources and services in the library is high with satisfaction derived on the utilization of books, periodicals, newspaper, manuscript, films, dictionary, encyclopedia, computer, internet, journals, CD rom, VCD and DVD, library building, reading areas, lighting system, reading tables and chairs and security ofpersonal property are utilized effectively and effectively. It also revealed that the major hindrances to the use of these library resources and services includes; poor library staff/user relationship, inadequate reference source, lack of adequate ICT services, lack of current and relevant materials, inadequate reading space, inadequate staffstrength and erratic power supply. The result shows that the various solutions to hindrances ofthe use ofthe library resources and services would enhance effective use ofthese library resources and services.
