ABSTRACT

 This study focused on the topic "Assessment of the impact of Management Information System on Organizational growth (A study of selected Commercial banks in Abia State”. The objectives ofthe study are to determine how Management Information system impacts on the growth of the selected organizations. To ascertain the extent to which Management Information System is utilized in the selected commercial banks in Abia State, to determine the relationship between Management Information System and Managerial functions in the selected Commercial banks in Abia State, to evaluate the impact of Management Information System on risk control and time and to examine the impact ofManagement Information System on accessibility and innovation in selected commercial banks in Abia State, to determine the relationship between Management Information System and Managerial functions in the selected commercial banks. The survey research design was adopted for the study. The population ofthe study is 600 while the sample size was 240. The method ofdata collection used was primary and secondary data. The analysis of the data was done and presented in tables, regression analysis were used to test the hypotheses. After the analyses, it wasfound out that Management Information System is not significantly utilized in the selected Commercial banks in Abia State. However, at P > 0.05 level ofsignificance, management information system has strong positive utilization in the selected commercial banks with correlation coefficient of (r = 0.914). There is no significant relationship between Management Information System andManagerialjunctions in the selected Commercial banks in Abia State. However at P > 0.05 level of significance, management information system has a strong relationship with managerialfunctions with correlation coefficient of(r = 0.862). Management Information System has no significant impact on risk control and time management in selected Commercial banks in Abia State. However at P > 0.05 level ofsignificance, Management Information System has a strong impact on risk control and time management with correlation coefficient of(r - 0.928). It is highly recommended that management in their given or assigned duties should look outfor those that possess the requisite management Information System that will fast track growth in the organization. They should advocate for the introduction and implementation of social management control. They should propose the inclusion of management controller on these organizations and a distinct division in order to follow, analyze and report necessary information that supports managerial decisions concerning the short term objectives as steps in the realization ofstrategic objectives
