ABSTRACT

The Study 0n the adoption of yam production technology l3ende Local government area in Abia State was achieved with the following objectives that is found in chapter one which helped in the determination of' the level of' adoption. Simple random sampling techniques were adopted [or the study. Primary data were randomly collected from eighty (80) selected famers in Bende using structured questionnaire. Data analysis involved the use of descriptive statistics such as frequency percentages and regression. The analysis of' socioeconomic characteristics should that majority of the household were headed by males. The percentage age of the farmers was from 40 70 showing that farmers were relatively young. The percentage of household size was from 6-8 persons. The result of' the famers having the greatest percent shows that 5 1 .25% of' farmers have former education with 58.75% of high farming experience. The analysis reviewed that farm size, family labour, farm experience and formal education were significant determinant of output (yield).The regression analysis shows that farm sizes were significantly higher than other factors influencing yam production technologies. It is recommended that the appropriate innovations that could ensure optimum use of scarce resources such as land, labour capital etc should he
