ABSTRACT
Design and implementation ofAutomated System for
Elimination ofExamination Impersonation using Biometric is a biometric system
that will be used in high/tertiary institutions to curb the examination
impersonation and fraudulent acts as regard to school fees. This system is going
to solve two basic problems; (1) Impersonation Detection:- the system will be
able to detect impersonator(s) i.e. students writing exam for other students or
bringing an external person (mercenary) to write exam for another student. (2)
Curbing Fraud:- the system will also be able to detect fraudster(s) i.e
students forging school fees receipts and I or Identity cards to enable them
write exams when they have not paid or eligible. The software for this system
will be used in all the examination halls, where the students will have to
thumbprint and only those that the system (Biometric Machine) recognizes and
found eligible will be allowed to write exams and those detected to have forged
the receipt/ID card, writing exams for another student will be apprehended.
Biometric was adopted in designing ofthis system because no two persons have
the same fingerprint and it offers automated method ofidentity verification, as
such verification of eligible and credible candidates for exam are assured with
this system.The researcher has chosen, Michael Okpara University ofAgriculture
as the Study for this research work.
