Youth Empowerment And Economic Development Through Entrepreneurship Education In 21st Century:- Mary-Ann C. E. Udo

ABSTRACT

The study is an opinion paper which deals exclusively on prospects and challenges of youth empowerment and economic development through entrepreneurship business. The study reveals that success of any country’s economy hinges on entrepreneurship education through technical vocational education and training as a great move to technological development of the economy which will create wealth (financial empowerment) for the youths and future generation. The work ( also identified entrepreneurship approaches that will guide an entrepreneur in his new enterprise. The study also looks at entrepreneurship education as a product ofself-relianceamong the youths for proper harnessment of innate potentials for advancement ofindigenous technological achievement for effective productivity in the economy. The research identified political environment, lack ofplanning, poor financial management, lack of ability to operate in a dynamic environment, managerial incompetence, lack ofcreativity and skill development are among the major constraints for effective entrepreneurship among Nigerian Youths. The work therefore concludes that both small-scale business and medium-scale businesses play a vital rote in maintaining liberalism which calls for skills forJob creation within the economy and empowerment ofregional activities. The study suggested that provision ofresources and channels for youth empowerment be made by the Government through Vocational Agricultural Training of youths various levels of institutions of learning, there should be entrepreneurship agricultural loans/funds for empowering youths in poultry, piggery, crop budding, snail rearing, fisheryproduction and even fashion and designing.
