University Education In Nigeria: Is Privatization The Best Option?

Abstract The study assessed opinions of university staff and students on "Privatization of University Education in Nigeria. A sample of 400 lecturers, non-academic staff and students was drawn through stratified random sampling technique from 8 out of 13 universities in the 9 Eastern States of Nigeria. Structured questionnaires which surveyed options available (with reasons) to government on the ownership and funding of universities were administered to respondents and data collected analysed using descriptive and chisquare statistics.
