ABSTRACT

Every organization whether large or small has its own problems, they cannot exist without both human and physical resources. These resources require the manipulation of human beings in other to be productive hence the need for this study "The role of personnel management in improving employee performance. A study of Uvuoma Micro-Finance Bank, Olokoro, Urnuahia. The broad objective was to analyse the role of personnel management in improving employee performance. In carrying out this study, materials of notable scholars were made use of that related to the problem under study. A total population of 25 staff were to be studied out of which a sample size of 23 respondents was developed using A — 15 item questionnaire was constructed to solicit the opinions of respondents. The chi-square statistical technique was used to test the hypothesis. From the study it was observed that high employee performance induced workers to higher and efficient productivity, also that sound reward system affected workers productivity positively. Hence, the researcher recommended that workers should be given the opportunity to express their views about the organization's policies, and that training and development of the employees should be embarked upon by management periodically to enhance productivity.
