ABSTRACT

The study examined the role of libraries in tertiary institutions of learning using Michael Okpara } rersity of Agriculture as the case study. The descriptive research design was adopted for the y. Also, the primary source of data through the use of a well drafted questionnaire was loyed for this study with a sample size of 390 respondents comprising of all library users in . ary institutions. The study revealed that the predominantly used library materials are serials, ยท books, databases and reference materials. Also, students' frequency of visit to the library is ,as some are only attracted by the availability of relevant current books/series and books : vant to semester's courses. Professionals and experts should be engaged in the provision of e relevant text books and materials. The study therefore recommends that the library should yide proficient internet services, data bases and web site information and a conducive rorunent with constant power supply so as to attract more users.
