This research work examines the role of commercial banks in fund mobilization for economic growth in Nigeria. Data were collected from the CBN statistical bulletin and authoritative sources. The study covered a period of fifty years, thus qualifying it as a time series study. Accordingly, econometric methodology was used to x-ray the relationship highlighted in the study and to test the hypotheses. The major finding of the study is that commercial banks play a crucial role in the process of economic development. It is recommended that banks should adopt more creative banking policies and initiate conducive monetary and fiscal policies to boost the wellbeing of the people and also introduce modern technologies into the banking system
