The Importance Of Sanitation And Safety In Hospitality Industry: Case Study Of Hotel Dela Paix

ABSTRACT

 This research work was borne out of the need to emphasize the importance of sanitation and safety in hospital industry with reference to Hotel Dela Paix in Aba, as a case study. The study was carried out due to the insufficient attention given to sanitation and safety in hospitality establishments in the past years which had resulted to food poisoning, death, loss of reputation and eventually loss of business. Further more, inadequate safety precautions against accident and fire outbreak within the facility have made most hospitality establishments unsafe for both guest and staff. The study was aimed at examining the importance of sanitation and safety in hospitality industry. In this research work, questionnaire was used to elicit information from 100 staff. Three hypotheses were formulated and Chisquare statistic was used to test their validity.' The finding after analysis indicated that poor sanitary as well as safety practices have negative implication on hospitality establishment. It was recommended that hospitality establishments should pay more attention to customers' welfare and good health by giving priority to sanitation and safety.
