The Effect Of Computerization On The Operation And Financial Performance Of Nigeria Banks (A Study Of Bank Phb And Diamond Bank Nigeria Plc)

ABSTRACT

 The aim of this research is to assess the effect of computerization on the operation and financial performance of Nigerian banks. Two selected banks were used in assessing the effect of computerized operations of banks. The data for the research were gathered using structured questionnaires, personal observation and interviews for the primary data while the secondary data were obtained from annual financial statement of these banks. The data collected were analyzed by [ho use of descriptive statistics while dummy variable in ordinary least square regression were use to test the hypothesis. The result indicates that, computerized operations of banking sector have improved the financial performance of Nigerian banks and positively impacts on customer's satisfaction. The work also implicate high cost of acquisition, high cost of maintenance and inadequate electric supply as critical deterrents to effective operation of computerized system in banking sector. The author recommends that, the cost of acquisition of computerized equipment should be reduced, banking industries should organize in-service training for workers to cope with the pace of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Adequate maintenance of computer equipment and energy generating set.
