ABSTRACT

This research work was design to find out the Effect of Computerization of Accounting System on the Efficiency of Mgerian Banks with particular reference to selected Banks in Uyo. In line with the research objectives, the researcher developed a questionnaire and collected data from both primary and secondary sources. Data collected were analysed and presented in tables. The three hypotheses formulated were analysed and tested with chisquare test statistic. The test was conducted at 95% level of signzficance at dzfferent degree of freedom. Based on the findings, it was discovered that banks investment in Information, communication and Technology has provided a platform for the bank and in effect enhanced the preparation, management and control of financial transactions. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that bank should continue to increase its investment in information technology in order to increase its level of profitability; the use of computerized accounting system in Banks should be expanded to cover the entire department to help improve quantity of service. Again, the Bank should constantly or regularly upgrade its accounting software to meet the need of modern global society. It was concluded that the overall effect of computerization of accounting system has help banks in attending efficiency
