ABSTARCT

Uziza it is used in West African euisine where it imparts "heat" (piquantness) and a spicy pugent aroma. This paper examines, the analysis of uziza marketing in Abia, using 50 respondents and. random sampling technique and data were collected using structured questionnaire data. Descriptive statistics, cost and return analysis and regression techniques were used to analyze the data collected. The result showed that there were more females than male wholesalers. Majority of the respondents did business with their personal savings, while a few obtained credits. The significant variables that influenced costs of marketing were level of education, seasonality of the products and house hold size while the significant variables that influenced profits were marketing experience of the wholesalers, unit price, household size and volume of sales. Major problems faced by the marketers. Based on the findings, it was recommended that policies for eliminating these constrains are implemented. More people will take to this trade when transportation cost is reduced in the region.
