Scope Of Library And Information Science Publications By Librarians In South East Nigeria: A Ten Year Assessment:- Chinyere, Okezie A.

Abstract

 The paper is a pilot study which examined the scope of Library and Information Science (LIS) publications by librarians in South Eastern Nigeria, over a ten year period, from 2002- 2012. Two objectives and two research questions guided the study, while one null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Data collection was by means of a structured questionnaire, check list and observation score card. Data collected were discrete and analysis of data was by frequency count, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) statistical analysis. Data analysis indicated 145 titles as the size of LIS publications outlets by librarians in South-east Nigeria within the JO year study period, low scope of LIS publications available in the selected libraries, as well as an averagely-significant relationship between the scope of the publications and the extent of their availability in the selected academic libraries. Recommendations were made on how to address. the inadequacies found in the study.
