ABSTRACT

The research work examines the role of Development Banks on the growth and development of small scale enterprises (A case study of Bank of Industry). The major motivation for this work is the established nexus between small scale business and economic development. As documented, in the popular press. The source of data employed in this study is the secondary source of data which was collected from the CBN statistical bulletin and authoritative sources. Accordingly, econometric methodology was used to view the relationship between the variables highlighted in the study and to test the hypothesis. The major finding of the study is that Development Banks i.e. the Bank of Industry being the case study play a vital role in the development and growth of the small scale enterprise and also in economic development. It is recommended that the development function of the Bank of Industry should be priority for Nigeria to accelerate the attainment of her goal of economic maturity.
