Reviewing Strategies For Improving Financial Accountability In The Local Government System Of Nigeria: A Study Of Ihitte/Uboma Local Government -Imo State

ABSTRACT

This study sought to review the strategies for improving financial accountability in the Local Government system of Nigeria: A study of Ihitte/Uboma Local Government, Imo State. Primary source of data and questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection and also survey research design was adopted for this study. Linear Regression was used to test the hypothesis. It was discovered that financial control has a significant effect on the financial accountability in the Local Government Councils in Nigeria. Therefore we recommended that there should be proper and frequent financial control to help curb the rate of financial unaccountability in the council.
