Abstracts

The paper examined libraries as catalyst for quality information in the society, it identifies accuracy, appropriateness, reliability, completeness, timeliness, consistency, relevance, uniqueness and comprehensible as attributes of quality information. It also examined the role of quality information on the society and its implications for libraries such as providing unique and distinctive information, provides reliable and credible information, reduction information overload, embarking on aggressive information literacy programmes, provision of vital and current information resources, provision of effective information service delivery, serves as storehouse of valued and authentic information. A number of challenges, strategies, conclusions and recommendations were made.
