ABSTRACT

The study was an extensive analysis of the problem and prospects of Agricultural products and marketing among rural farmers in Umuahia, Abia State. Specifically, the study investigated the socio-economic characteristics of the respondents; examine the major problems and prospects of agricultural marketing in the study area: ascertain the effects of the problems on the profitability of the enterprise etc. the study adopted a simple size of 120 selected from 10 autonomous communities in the study area. The study made use of primary data collected through questionnaire which were later analyzed using simple percentage. However, the null hypotheses stated were tested using probit model. After the study, the researcher conducted that high cost of transportation, lack of poor road network are the problems facing the marketing of agricultural products in the study area. Thus, recommended that solutions to these problems will go a long way to enhance efficient marketing of agricultural products in the study area.
